Modern Fireplaces Offer a Green Heating Solution

Green your home with an EPA rated fireplace!

Fireplaces certainly aren’t what they used to be. Typically, when thinking of old traditional fireplaces, bulky, smelly, smoky, and other unpleasantries come to mind. Today’s modern fireplaces are challenging this perspective. Fortunately, along with all of the innovation and technologies that have been developed, there are many green benefits (all around benefits, too) to be found in a modern fireplace. They are now incredibly energy efficient, stylish, and serve as a clean burning source as stated by the EPA. In other words, fireplaces are recognized as a green energy source. A modern EPA certified fireplace is a highly efficient heating source that utilizes domestic, renewable energy sources with efficient direct venting capabilities. This type of eco fireplace is turning out to be the way of the future for our heating needs.

EPA Fireplaces - Many Green Options

Many of the new EPA fireplace options are using alternative fuel sources such as ethanol. This makes for a high tech, clean burning experience that has less of an impact on our environment. As a domestic and renewable source of energy, an EPA certified fireplace is likely to be a welcome source of heating for many families, as this green technology becomes better known. To make an eco fireplace even more appealing, there are even Federal tax credits available for using this green fireplace technology in the home. With less and less reasons to NOT be green nowadays - this movement is gaining ground with most everyone.

Home and Hearth Outfitters are the Denver and Vail Valley source for modern new, EPA-certified Wood Stove, Pellet Stove, Gas Stove or Fireplace Inserts. EPA wood stoves are one of the most popular choices among green technology enthusiasts. Home and Hearth provides all the options for employing this technology in your home and their NFI Certified professionals will properly and efficiently install your EPA fireplace.

Federal Tax Credits for Modern Fireplaces

Federal Tax Credit Information

Homeowners can take advantage of green tax credits when they upgrade to a modern fireplace. Up to an amount of $1,500 or 30% (whichever is less) homeowners can receive a Federal tax credit toward the purchase of new EPA wood stoves or pellet stoves, if purchased between the dates of January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010. An established retailer such as Home and Hearth Outfitters can provide more details on this tax credit benefit.

What is considered an EPA certified fireplace? It is any wood or pellet burning stove that, at minimum, meets the 75% Energy Star efficiency rating. The cost of professional labor or installation by someone such as a local Denver Home and Hearth professional is included if this installation is required for safety reasons (and this will likely be required.) In addition, the stove must be used for heat or water heating only and must be in use at your principal residence in order to successfully qualify for the tax credit. To apply for this Federal tax credit, after purchasing your new green fireplace it is required to file Tax Form 5695 with your next tax return.
